1. ALBANY COUNTY
named in honor of the Duke of York and Albany, who later became James II of England.

2. BRONX COUNTY (PART OF NEW YORK CITY)
named in honor of Joseph Bronck, first settler of the region north of the Harlem River (a peace treaty with the Indians of the Region was signed at his home in 1642).

3. CLINTON COUNTY (ONE OF OUR NEIGHBORS)
named in honor of George Clinton, first governor of New York State.

4. ESSEX COUNTY (ONE OF OUR NEIGHBORS)
named for Essex County in England

named after the St. Lawrence River, named by Cartier in honor of St. Laurent, on whose birthday the river was discovered.
